Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The tools use the pdf-lib and pdf.js libraries inside your browser. The file is read from your device and the result is written back to it; there is no upload at all.
How does compression work?
Each page is redrawn as a JPEG at the quality and resolution you pick and rebuilt into a new PDF. It shrinks scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs a lot, but text becomes an image, so it can no longer be selected or searched. Use a lower quality for e-mail, higher for printing.
Can I choose page ranges?
Yes. Type ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10. Split can make one file per page, one file per range, or a single file with only the pages you list.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Files with an open password cannot be read. Files that only restrict printing or editing usually work.
