Why 200 KB?
Portals like SSC, UPSC, state PSCs, banks and university admissions often cap document uploads at 200 KB so their servers stay fast. A phone scan of two or three pages is usually 1–5 MB, so it needs shrinking before it will upload.
How this works
The tool redraws each page as a JPEG, starting at good quality and stepping down resolution and quality until the whole file fits under 200 KB. It stops at the first setting that fits, so you keep as much sharpness as the limit allows.
Tips for the best result
Crop away blank margins before scanning, scan in black and white or greyscale for text documents, and split long files — a 10-page PDF at 200 KB leaves only 20 KB a page. If the result is still too large, remove pages you don't need with the “Remove pages” tab first.
Questions
Will the text still be readable?
Yes for normal scans of one to five pages. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits. Very long documents may look soft at 200 KB — split them into parts if the form allows.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It is compressed inside your browser; nothing is sent to masstree.in or anyone else.
Can I still select the text?
No. Pages are redrawn as images to reach the size, so the result is like a scan. Keep your original if you need to copy text from it.
